Basketball Recap: Manzanola Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Manzanola had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were dealt a 47-11 loss at the hands of the Liberty Tree Academy War Eagles on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Liberty Tree Academy found their leader in sophomore Melody Pruitt, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. Brileigh Wootten was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Manzanola will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Granada at 2:00 p.m. on the 13th. As for Liberty Tree Academy, they will take on Golden View Classical Academy in a tournament on Thursday.
