Basketball Game Preview: South Pointe Stallions vs. Fort Mill Yellow Jackets

South Pointe is 8-1 against Fort Mill since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Stallions just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Yellow Jackets at 7:15 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South Pointe is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Northwestern: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Stallions blew the Trojans out of the water with a 91-16 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 65-8.

JaNyia Cunningham went supernova, almost dropping a double-double with 38 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four). Kaleigh Lucas was another key player, putting up 16 points and seven steals.

Meanwhile, Fort Mill was able to grind out a solid victory over Lancaster on Tuesday, taking the game 48-40. The 48-point effort marked the Yellow Jackets' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The win got South Pointe back to even at 1-1. As for Fort Mill, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

South Pointe beat Fort Mill 55-42 when the teams last played back in January of 2020. Will the Stallions repeat their success, or do the Yellow Jackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
