Basketball Recap: Shepherd Comes Up Short

Shepherd lost against Tarkington back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Shepherd Pirates lost to the Tarkington Longhorns at home by a 42-28 margin. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tarkington found their leader in sophomore Layla Watson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 boards. Watson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Abigail Rodriguez, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Shepherd's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Tarkington, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Shepherd didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-28 defeat against Hamshire-Fannett on the 20th. As for Tarkington, they will take on Splendora in a tournament on December 27th.
