Basketball Game Preview: Polson Pirates vs. Ronan Chiefs

Polson and Ronan are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Polson Pirates will square off against the Ronan Chiefs at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Polson lost to Columbia Falls on the road by a 56-39 margin. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Ronan played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 59-30 defeat at the hands of Bigfork. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Vikings & Valkyries are ranked 20th).

Polson now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Ronan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Polson came up short against Ronan in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 46-36. Can Polson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
