Softball Preview: Jordan-Elbridge Eagles vs. Marcellus Mustangs
Jordan-Elbridge is 0-6 against Marcellus since May of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m.
Jordan-Elbridge barely beat Skaneateles the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Lakers with a sharp 9-1 victory on Monday. The Eagles have beaten the Lakers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lakers has come to flipping the script.
Abby DelFavero made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. DelFavero was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jordan-Elbridge let Brooke Chiaramonte and Ava Bloodgood run wild. Chiaramonte got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Bloodgood went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Chiaramonte has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Fraher, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Marcellus unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They and Altmar-Parish-Williamstown finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 tie. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.
With that tie, Marcellus' record moves to 5-2-1. As for Jordan-Elbridge, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Jordan-Elbridge couldn't quite get it done against Marcellus in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
