Softball Recap: Orting Takes a Loss

Orting dropped down to 3-3 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 11-1 to the Fife Trojans. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Orting saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava McCall, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Fife, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games.

On Fife's side, Mallory Geving made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Geving has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Zoe Strong was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Mallory Robson, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Orting is taking a road trip to square off against Kentlake at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fife, they will welcome Sequim at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
