Football Game Preview: Kennedy Thunderbirds vs. Chavez Titans

The Kennedy Thunderbirds will head out to take on the Chavez Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Kennedy's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.

Kennedy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Taft 63-21 on Friday. With the Thunderbirds ahead 49-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Cristian Hernandez had a dynamite game, rushing for 156 yards and a pair of scores. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Jorge Avila was in the mix too, providing Kennedy with one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kennedy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 403 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 265 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Chavez fell victim to Shafter and their airtight defense on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Generals and fell 56-0. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Generals recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Chavez's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Everything came up roses for Kennedy against Chavez in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 69-6 victory. In that contest, the Thunderbirds amassed a halftime lead of 48-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
