The Winter Park Wildcats will challenge the East River Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Winter Park: 2.3, East River: 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Winter Park saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They fell just short of Windermere by a score of 4-3.
Skyler Jersey and Isaac Incinelli did some serious damage despite the final result: Jersey went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Incinelli scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, Incinelli posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, East River had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hawks, sneaking past 10-8. The Falcons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Cortland Janeczek looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayden Vazquez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Ty Kennedy was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
East River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
East River's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Winter Park, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Winter Park has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East River struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Winter Park was able to grind out a solid win over East River in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. Will Winter Park repeat their success, or does East River have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
