Baseball Recap: Charlotte Christian Now 11-1 over Last 12 Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Charlotte Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Covenant Day Lions, sneaking past 4-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Ivan Andino was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Charlotte Christian got a great performance from Grant Nicholson as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Nicholson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Matty Carroll, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Charlotte Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Covenant Day, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-5 record.

Charlotte Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
