Baseball Recap: Whitehall Beats Nazareth Area for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Whitehall extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 6-3 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Nazareth Area Blue Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Zephyrs have posted against the Blue Eagles since April 24, 2017.

Nik Christman looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He has become a key player for Whitehall: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Sanders, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Tyler Reichenbach was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Nazareth Area, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.

On Nazareth Area's side, Evan Shak was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Shak has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Sanford, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Whitehall didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-0 win against Northampton on the 16th. As for Nazareth Area, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Liberty on the 16th.
