Softball Recap: Haverford Extends Winning Streak to Four

Haverford entered their tilt with Garnet Valley on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Jaguars. This was a revenge game for the Fords: when they faced off against the Jaguars back in March, they had to take a 6-5 loss.

Ali Daly made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Brenna Carfrey was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelly Shindler, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Haverford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garnet Valley only posted a batting average of .185.

Haverford's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Garnet Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Coming up, Haverford will challenge Lower Merion at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Aces have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.94 runs per game on average), something the Fords will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Garnet Valley, they will square off against Upper Darby at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
