Basketball Game Preview: Bowdon Red Devils vs. Temple Tigers

Bowdon is 2-8 against Temple since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Red Devils will take on the Tigers in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in Bowdon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

On Tuesday, Bowdon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 63-57 to Bremen. The matchup marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Bowdon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zayland Allen, who went 9-for-20 on his way to 25 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Timothy Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Allen's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 22 points. Another player making a difference was Myke Myke Patterson, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Temple, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 victory over Bremen on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since January 3rd.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bowdon fell to 4-1. As for Temple, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Bowdon ended up a good deal behind Temple when the teams last played back in January, losing 68-53. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
