Basketball Recap: Mercer County Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mercer County can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 39-38 to the Orion Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 414th in Illinois, while the Chargers are ranked 203rd in Illinois).

Mercer County's defeat dropped their record down to 14-18. As for Orion, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Mercer County nor Orion have any future games scheduled.
