Softball Recap: Port Edwards Blackhawks vs. Adams-Friendship Green Devils
Port Edwards extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 1-11 in the process. They lost 19-0 to the Adams-Friendship Green Devils. The Blackhawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Green Devils from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
As for Adams-Friendship, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.
For Adams-Friendship's part, Riley Weaver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Weaver has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Adams-Friendship got a massive performance out of Gwen Gransee, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Gransee has posted since back in May of 2024. Kena Kirsenlohr was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Coincidentally, Port Edwards and Adams-Friendship will both be playing Wild Rose the next time they take the field. The Green Devils will head out to face the Wildcats at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, while the Blackhawks will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
