Baseball Recap: Ripley Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

Ripley took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against George Washington, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Patriots on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted against the Patriots since April 20, 2018.

Jackson Curry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Curry was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Keller, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Peyton Keller was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Ripley's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for George Washington, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ripley will take on Lincoln County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for George Washington, they will square off against Woodrow Wilson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
