Basketball Recap: Joseph City Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Eli James and Landon Miller

Joseph City and Seligman squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Joseph City had to settle for second. They lost 67-46 to the Seligman Antelopes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since December 14, 2024.

Despite the loss, Joseph City had strong showings from Landon Miller, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds, and Eli James, who posted 14 points and four blocks. The dominant performance gave James a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaimen Tsosie, who had nine points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Joseph City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Seligman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Montae Walker, who dropped a triple-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 steals. Walker's evening made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Silas, who went 6-for-12 en route to 22 points and four steals.

Joseph City's defeat dropped their record down to 27-7. As for Seligman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season.

Joseph City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Seligman, they will challenge The Gregory School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Seligman's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 games.
