Basketball Recap: Claxton Takes a Loss

Claxton lost against Bryan County back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Claxton Tigers were dealt a 63-30 defeat at the hands of the Bryan County Redskins. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while the Redskins are ranked 106th).

When it comes to explaining why Claxton lost, don't look at Jayda Jordan. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 17 en route to 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 70% of Claxton's points, marking the 22nd time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Claxton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Bryan County, they pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Claxton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-36 loss against Appling County on the 8th. As for Bryan County, they have also already played their next game, a 57-31 victory against Savannah on the 8th.
