Football Game Preview: Live Oak Lions vs. Las Plumas Thunderbirds + How To Watch

Live Oak is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will take on the Las Plumas Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. Live Oak will be strutting in after a victory while Las Plumas will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Live Oak earned a 34-26 win over River Valley. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Live Oak's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ian Miranda, who rushed for 188 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and Bradley Perigo, who rushed for 70 yards and two TDs. Miranda's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 150 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Live Oak was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 177 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Las Plumas played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Lassen 56-14. The matchup marked the Thunderbirds' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Las Plumas saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Branden Robinson threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 58 yards on only five carries.

Live Oak's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Las Plumas, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
