Basketball Recap: Eldorado Comes Up Short

Eldorado lost against Cibola back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The match between the Eldorado Golden Eagles and the Cibola Cougars didn't end well, with the Eldorado Golden Eagles falling 70-51. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Cougars are ranked eighth).

Eldorado's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Cibola, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

The future could be bright for both Eldorado and Cibola: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Eldorado will look to extend Manzano's seven-game losing streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Cibola will try to hand Atrisco Heritage Academy their third-straight loss when the two meet at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
