Basketball Recap: Burke County Piles Up the Points Against East Jackson

Burke County lost to East Jackson back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Bears breezed past the Eagles to the tune of 86-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Burke County was led to victory by De'Quayvian Lovette and La'Quinton Morgan. Lovette shot 52% from the field on his way to 29 points along with five boards and four steals, while Morgan went 6-for-9 to rack up 17 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Lovette is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Camari Warren, who posted ten points.

Burke County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Burke County's record is now 2-0. As for East Jackson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burke County will host Lakeside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 72.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for East Jackson, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Monsignor Donovan Catholic at 7:30 p.m. The Rams have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
