Softball Recap: Sandwich Gets the Win

Sandwich's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Newark Norsemen. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since May 1st.

Brooklyn Marks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Marks wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Cyr, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Hannah Decker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Sandwich's record now sits at 13-11. As for Newark, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-15-2.

As of now, neither Sandwich nor the Norsemen have any future games scheduled.
