League recap: Metz breaks off league-leading run for Northern

Northern's Meshach Metz rumbled for the longest rushing play in Freelance this season in his game against Frankfort last week. Metz's team fell to the Falcons as he sprinted for 73 yards on the play and finished with 73 in all.

Hancock was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 14th to 11th in the league. The Panthers beat Carson Long Military Institute 24-0 earlier in the week.

Hunter Mckinley and Jordan Keefer gave Hancock a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Mckinley threw for 50 yards and one touchdown, while Keefer ran for 154 yards. Teammate Nate Souders added to the ground attack by rushing for 82 yards.

Trevor Harding was the best wideout in the league this week as Northern lost to Frankfort. Harding tallied five receptions for 104 yards. Jeremy Bender helped Northern's passing attack out by catching three balls for 12 yards.

Eastern Christian Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Honey Badgers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. David Sills has thrown for 719 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Daikiel Shorts has 14 catches for 307 yards. Wendell Smallwood leads the league in rushing with 244 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Phil Carr's team takes on Clear Spring. The Huskies are in 12th place, while the Blazers are in seventh place.

Bishop Walsh extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lutheran, 46-28. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
