Volleyball Recap: Kaukauna Comes Up Short

Kaukauna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Neenah Rockets. The Galloping Ghosts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rockets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Kaukauna actually scored more points across those three sets (85-75), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-45.

Their offense was headlined by Ashlynn Vande Voort and Alexis Van Elzen, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Kala Lahm and her nine assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Kaukauna's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Neenah, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Kaukauna will challenge Hortonville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Neenah, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Stevens Point on the 4th.
