Football Game Preview: Ropes Eagles vs. Sundown Roughnecks

The Ropes Eagles will square off against the Sundown Roughnecks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sundown's offense is going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Ropes hadn't allowed a single point the last three times they've hit the field. The Eagles simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Smyer 66-0. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Ropes' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zayden Pittman, who rushed for 52 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 68 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six passes. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Pittman a new career-high. Jaivyth Cruz was another key rusher, rushing for 97 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Ropes proved: they limited Smyer to a paltry -3.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Cason Kucel for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ropes hasn't allowed more than 4.9 yards per carry in four consecutive matchups.

Ropes didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Pittman and Branson Simental. Ropes got some further help from Victor Saenz: he made 14 total tackles (5.0 for loss).
