Softball Recap: Northwest Knights vs. Purcell Marian Cavaliers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Deer Park, Northwest was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Purcell Marian Cavaliers as the Northwest Knights made off with a 23-15 win. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.

Alyssa Ornelas was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Ornelas was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ryley Cole was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances. Isabella Deatherage was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Northwest's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1.

Coincidentally, Northwest and Purcell Marian will both be playing Cincinnati Christian the next time they take the field. Northwest will host Cincinnati Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Purcell Marian will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
