Decatur Central is 9-1 against Perry Meridian since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Hawks will be playing at home against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Decatur Central has five straight wins, Perry Meridian has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Decatur Central is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Greenwood: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Hawks blew the Woodmen out of the water with a 69-7 final score. Considering the Hawks have won three contests by more than 45 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Decatur Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bo Polston, who threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes. The dominant performance also gave Polston a new career-high in passer rating (152.1). Jalen Leath was another key rusher, rushing for 69 yards and one score on only five carries.
Decatur Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 329 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 173 rushing yards in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Perry Meridian played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 46-21 to Martinsville. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-7.
Decatur Central will need to focus on slowing down Jackson Schoch, one of several Perry Meridian players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 223 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 43 yards.
Decatur Central's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Perry Meridian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Decatur Central has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 302.1 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Perry Meridian, though, as they've been averaging only 95.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Decatur Central skirted past Perry Meridian 38-35 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
