Mercer Island extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 3-0. They blew past the Juanita Ravens, posting an 85-42 victory. The Islanders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Ravens, too.

Colin Monahan had a dynamite game, going 10-for-14 to rack up 22 points and three steals. Jayden Yuen was another key player, shooting 75% from the field en route to 16 points and six assists.

Mercer Island was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. They posted 18 more assists than Juanita's also-impressive total of ten.

As for Juanita, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points over those games.

Despite the loss, Juanita saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ayden Kinnard posted six points.

Coming up, Mercer Island will face off against Newport - Bellevue at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The Islanders will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 65 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Juanita, they will square off against Hazen at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Ravens' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
