Basketball Recap: Whitko Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Whitko came into Friday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 40-37 win from a begrudging Wildcats squad. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since February 10, 2024.

Despite the loss, Lewis Cass had strong showings from Trey Johnson, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 10 points, and Brennan Deeter, who posted nine points. Johnson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Julian Levine was another key player, putting up three points.

Whitko's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Lewis Cass, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Whitko wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-41 loss against Illiana Christian on the 27th. As for Lewis Cass, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-53 defeat against Peru on the 21st.
