South Anchorage had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Bartlett on Tuesday. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Golden Bears with a sharp 3-0 win. The Wolverines not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 19th (when they won 3-0).
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: South Anchorage took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-15, 25-9.
Meanwhile, Dimond faced Service in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Lynx were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Cougars.
While Dimond won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-20, 25-22.
South Anchorage's victory bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Dimond, their win bumped their record up to 18-8-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: South Anchorage has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Dimond struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
