Basketball Recap: Belen Comes Up Short

Belen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 31-29 heartbreaker at the hands of the Highland Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-23 back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rebecca Neal, who posted five points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Ava Cordova, who put up 14 points.

Belen's loss dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Highland, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Belen and Highland will both be playing Grants the next time they take the court. Highland will head out to face Grants at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Belen will host them at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th.
