Recap: Green Valley Gators vs. Sierra Vista Mountain Lions
After flying high against the Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons on Monday, the Green Valley Gators came back down to earth. Green Valley fell just short of Sierra Vista by a score of 74-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Monday (64), Green Valley still had to take the loss.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gaston Zumaya, who scored 27 points along with 3 steals. Zumaya scored a full 37.5% of Green Valley's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Barney, who scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds.
Green Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Sierra Vista, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Green Valley will square off against The Meadows School at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sierra Vista, they will head out on the road to face off against Desert Oasis at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
