Basketball Recap: Bettye Davis East Anchorage Comes Up Short

Bettye Davis East Anchorage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt an 80-24 defeat at the hands of the Dimond Lynx. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Lynx are ranked 19th).

Leading Dimond to victory were Evan Hamey and Katie MacDonald. Hamey dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds, while MacDonald went 6 for 15 en route to 19 points along with eight assists and six steals. Hamey's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaia Kalt, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Bettye Davis East Anchorage's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Dimond, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Bettye Davis East Anchorage will square off against Service at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. Service is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season. As for Dimond, they will challenge Kodiak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dimond's defense has only allowed 28.2 points per game this season, so Kodiak's offense will have their work cut out for them.
