Baseball Recap: Winter Park Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Winter Park ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 12-8 win over the Bishop Moore Hornets. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won five contests in a row.

Ryder Simon and Isaac Incinelli were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Simon struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Incinelli pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave Simon a new career-high. At the plate, Simon went 1-for-5 with one triple and two RBI, while Incinelli scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Incinelli also launched a home run, marking his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Jackson Freyer looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Skyler Jersey was incredible, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Hayden Montanez, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Winter Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Winter Park's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Bishop Moore, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.

Winter Park has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 win against Lakeland Christian on the 31st. As for Bishop Moore, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Titusville on the 31st.
