Softball Recap: Elgin Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Elgin's offense. They came up short against the Liberty Union Lions on Saturday, falling 22-0. If the Comets were looking for revenge after losing 12-2 to the Lions when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Elgin's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Liberty Union, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.

Coming up, Elgin will square off against Ridgemont at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give the Comets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Liberty Union, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-3 victory against River Valley on the 12th.
