Grimsley proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by eight) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hoggard Vikings, sneaking past 10-9. Winning may never get old, but the Whirlies sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Noah Christensen looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sebastian Rodriguez was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Barnwell, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Grimsley's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Hoggard, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grimsley will challenge Burns at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Whirlies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hoggard, they will face off against Wilmington Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
