Baseball Recap: Brandywine Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Brandywine, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Hartford Huskies on Friday. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Kyler Marshall made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Marshall was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Mason Simmons and Jayce Klapp did most of the damage at the plate: Simmons went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Klapp got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave Klapp a new career-high. Kaeden Warfield was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Brandywine's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Hartford, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

Coming up, Brandywine will square off against Bridgman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hartford, they will take on Watervliet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
