Volleyball Recap: Amelia Academy Comes Up Short

Amelia Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Brunswick Academy Vikings, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Amelia Academy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Brunswick Academy's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-15, 25-16.

Despite the loss, Amelia Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maddison Wilburn had six digs and two aces.

Amelia Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Brunswick Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-2 record this season.

Amelia Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Banner Christian on the 7th. As for Brunswick Academy, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot on the 7th.
