Baseball Game Preview: Grace Academy Knights vs. McConnellsburg Spartans

The Grace Academy Knights will square off against the McConnellsburg Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. McConnellsburg took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Grace Academy, who comes in off a win.

Grace Academy proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past GVCS Broadfording 3-2.

Jaeden Peterson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Peterson was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Peterson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Connor Earley, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was AJ Presley, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, McConnellsburg didn't have quite enough to beat Windber on Thursday and fell 6-5.

Shafer Earley and Tucker Hedge stepped up to the plate in a big way. Earley went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Hedge scored a run while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin DeShong, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Grace Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for McConnellsburg, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
