Volleyball Recap: Dillon Hommel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cactus over Greenway

Cactus was the 3-0 winner over Greenway when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cobras fell 3-1 to the Demons on Tuesday.

The final score came out to 25-21, 25-12, 20-25, 25-18.

Several Cobras players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dillon Hommel, who had eight digs and three aces. Another player making a difference was JJ Sweeney, who had 14 digs.

Leading Greenway to victory were Daniel Hoang and Bryce Uyesato. Hoang had 38 assists and five digs, while Uyesato had nine digs and two aces. That's the most assists Hoang has posted over his last ten contests.

Cactus has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Greenway, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.

Looking ahead, Cactus will head out to face off against St. Mary's at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Greenway, they will head out on the road to take on Goldwater at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
