Basketball Recap: Mullen Takes a Loss

Mullen lost against Cherry Creek on February 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mullen Mustangs took a 64-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cherry Creek Bruins. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Mullen lost, don't look at Kevin Lewis. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave Lewis a new career-high. Grayson Bauer was another key player, putting up ten points.

Jeremiah Hammond continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cherry Creek, going 11-for-15 en route to 26 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Kayden Patrick, who scored ten points.

Mullen's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Cherry Creek, their win bumped their record up to an identical 9-13.

Mullen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 77-46 loss against Cherokee Trail on the 22nd. As for Cherry Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-52 defeat against Arapahoe on the 22nd.
