Shallowater is 9-1 against Slaton since December of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Shallowater Mustangs will look to defend their home court against the Slaton Tigers at 6:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Slaton will be up against a hot Shallowater squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 16. Shallowater blew past Friona 70-44 on Tuesday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Chieftans are ranked 576th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Slaton hadn't done well against Idalou recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Slaton was the clear victor by a 48-26 margin over Idalou. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Shallowater is also on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Slaton, their win bumped their record up to 15-10.
