Basketball Recap: Asheboro Takes a Loss

Asheboro was the 86-40 winner over Ledford when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Asheboro Blue Comets fell 64-56 to the Ledford Panthers on Friday. The Blue Comets' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

It was another big night for Isaiah Peele, who went 8 of 13 en route to 26 points for Ledford. Those 26 points gave Peele a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adam Grier, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 assists.

Asheboro's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Ledford, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Asheboro will head out on the road to square off against Northwest Guilford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Guilford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Asheboro likes a good challenge. As for Ledford, they will welcome Montgomery Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ledford is facing Montgomery Central at the right time seeing as Montgomery Central is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
