MaxPreps 2015 Preseason All-American Football Team: Defense

See which players are the best in the land heading into the football season.

Two Alabama commits — Kendell Jones and Jaquan Yulee — highlight the defense headline the defensive side of the MaxPreps 2015 Preseason All-American Team.

Jones, who is aptly nicknamed "Hulk," is a 6-foot-4, 315-pound monster from Texas. Yulee is the No. 9 linebacker in the country.

MaxPreps 2015 Preseason All-American Football Team
Defense

DL – Rashan Gary, 6-4, 290, Paramus Catholic (N.J.), Uncommitted
The Star-Ledger Defensive Player of the Year, Gary registered 55 tackles and 10 sacks to lead Paramus Catholic to the Non-Public Group IV title game. He'll lead the Paladins against a rigorous schedule.

DL – Kendell Jones, 6-4, 315, Shoemaker (Killeen, Texas), Alabama
"Hulk" took home Defensive Player of the Year honors from the Killeen Daily Herald.

DL – Dexter Lawrence, 6-5, 310, Wake Forest (N.C.), Uncommitted
An all-area pick, Lawrence posted 55 tackles and 10 sacks. He's the No. 3 recruit in the 247Sports Composite.

DL – Nick Bosa, 6-3, 260, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Ohio State
Bosa enters his fourth year as a varsity starter. He compiled 56 tackles and 29.5 tackles for loss, as well as five sacks.

LB – Tuf Borland, 6-2, 225, Bolingbrook (Ill.), Ohio State
An all-area pick by the Chicago Sun-Times, Borland registered 110 tackles and four sacks for one of the state's top programs.



LB – Lyndell "Mack" Wilson, 6-3, 220, Carver (Montgomery, Ala.), Uncommitted
Wilson was a Class 6A first team all-state pick and is the No. 1 player at his position, according to 247Sports.

LB – Caleb Kelly, 6-3, 215, Clovis West (Fresno, Calif.), Uncommitted
Kelly was all over the field for Clovis West as a junior. He notched a 20-tackle game and was a valuable weapon as a receiver.

LB – Jaquan Yulee, 6-2, 240, Indian River (Chesapeake, Va.), Alabama
Yulee was an All-Tidewater pick after amassing 120 tackles and nine sacks. He'll lead an Indiana River program that is on the rise.

LB – Keion Joyner, 6-4, 205, Havelock (N.C.), Uncommitted
For 14-2 Havelock, Joyner menaced opposing offenses. He made 86 tackles, had five sacks and blocked a punt.

DB – Levonta Taylor, 5-11, 180, Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, Va.), Florida State
For preseason-ranked Ocean Lakes, Taylor was phenomenal. He forced eight turnovers, scored on three kick returns and three interceptions, earning all-Tidewater honors.

DB – Saivion Smith, 6-2, 180, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), LSU
Smith did it all for IMG. He made 67 tackles, five interceptions and blocked three punts. He scored six touchdowns on defense and special teams.



DB – Trayvon Mullen, 6-2, 170, Coconut Creek (Fla.), Uncommitted
Coconut Creek could have a breakout season, and Mullen is a huge reason why. He had 28 tackles, 11 pass break-ups, and six special teams scores last season.

DB – Brandon Jones, 6-0, 180, Nacogdoches (Texas), Uncommitted
An injury claimed his junior season, but Jones, now healthy, is poised for a monster senior campaign.
