Treyson Anderson commands the offense for Thunderbolts win

Recap: Pius X Thunderbolts vs. Lincoln East Spartans

The Pius X Thunderbolts had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Lincoln East by a score of 65-52. Given Pius X's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Lincoln East is ranked 117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pius X's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Treyson Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Anderson hasn't dropped below 16 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Michael Haith, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.

Lincoln East lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carter Mick, who scored 14 points. Quin Weatherholt was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Pius X has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Lincoln East, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Pius X won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fremont at 4:30 p.m. on February 10th. Pius X knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 matches -- so hopefully Fremont likes a good challenge. As for Lincoln East, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Buena Vista at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th. Buena Vista is coming into the contest with seven straight defeats at home, meaning Lincoln East will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
