Football Recap: Stanton Mustangs vs. Plainview Pirates
After flying high against Elkhorn Valley last Friday, Stanton came back down to earth. The Mustangs were outmatched by the Plainview Pirates and fell 52-8. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
While passing duties were split, you can't argue with the impact Gage Walton and Kobe Maertins both made on the contest. Stanton dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Plainview, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Looking ahead, Stanton will be playing in front of their home fans against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Plainview, they will venture away from home to square off against Lutheran-Northeast at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 47 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
