Preview: Hattiesburg Tigers vs. Terry Bulldogs
After three games on the road, Hattiesburg is heading back home. They will take on The Terry Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Hattiesburg blew past Pearl River Central, posting a 46-6 victory on the road. Given Hattiesburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Pearl River Central is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Terry never got on the board in their matchup on October 5th, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Pearl River Central two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Blue Devils 42-8 at home.
Terry's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but William Johnson led the charge by picking up 81 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Ashton Fair (k1) was another key contributor, throwing for 90 yards and three touchdowns.
Hattiesburg's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.8 points per game. As for Terry, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
