Basketball Recap: Falkner's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Falkner came into Friday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the East Union Urchins on Friday by a score of 61-52 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Urchins are ranked 75th).

Elijah Mauney continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Falkner's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Nunley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Falkner was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Falkner's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for East Union, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.

Falkner will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Jumpertown at 8:30 p.m. Falkner is facing Jumpertown at the right time seeing as Jumpertown is stuck on a five-game losing streak. East Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
