Basketball Recap: Morse Shipbuilders vs. Maine Central Institute Huskies

The Morse Shipbuilders were the 54-48 winner over the Maine Central Institute Huskies when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Morse ended up on the wrong side of a rough 53-31 walloping at the hands of the Huskies on Friday. Morse has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Trace McFarland and Calin Gould certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. McFarland scored 12 points along with two blocks, while Gould scored six points along with seven rebounds. It was the first time this season that McFarland posted two or more blocks.

Morse's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Maine Central Institute, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Morse will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Erskine Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Maine Central Institute, they will head out on the road to challenge the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Leavitt has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6.
