Basketball Game Preview: North Lenoir Hawks vs. Ayden - Grifton Chargers

Having just played yesterday, the North Lenoir Hawks will get right back to it and host the Ayden - Grifton Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, North Lenoir didn't have quite enough to beat South Lenoir and fell 70-68.

Meanwhile, Ayden - Grifton ended up a good deal behind SouthWest Edgecombe last Thursday and lost 72-57. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Cougars are ranked 83rd).

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Hatteras Jenkins and Zy Thigpen. Thigpen had a great game and went 8 of 14 en route to 21 points and eight assists. Meanwhile, Jenkins was balling out in the loss, putting up 21 points.

Ayden - Grifton's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for North Lenoir, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
