Recap: Manti Templars vs. Canyon View Falcons
The Manti Templars lost against the Canyon View Falcons back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Manti took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Canyon View. Manti has struggled against Canyon View recently, as their contest on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Manti's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of June Olsen, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Cadee Alder who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 36.6% of Manti's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Canyon View was led to victory by Maylee Spencer and Emery Miles. Spencer scored 12 points along with five steals, while Miles scored 12 points along with five blocks. Spencer hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Davie, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Manti has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Canyon View, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Manti will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Emery at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Emery focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for Canyon View, they will head out on the road to challenge Juab at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Juab is ranked 46th, while Canyon View is ranked 54th).
